GENIKES PLIROFORIES 1Mission ANTHROPOS, a Greek NGO active for the last few years in Africa, started its first program in Greece in the beginning of 2012 and lasted till December 2017. The goal was to support fellow citizens suffering from the social and economic crisis. Its first priority was to secure that uninsured children receive all vaccines prescribed by the National Vaccination Program (NVP), regardless of their socio-economic status, through the program “Emvolia-zoume: children without insurance, not without protection”.

The vaccination program was set up in collaboration with Municipalities, the Department of Social Medicine of the “P. & A. Kyriakou” Childrens’ Hospital in Athens and other NGOs. Mission ANTHROPOS was responsible for providing the vaccines, organizing the volunteers and coordinating the program.

The team of volunteers included pediatricians, nurses and administrative assistants. The program was funded by grants from the Bodosssaki Foundation (www.bodossaki.gr), the Stavros Niarhos Foundation (www.snf.org), the John S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation (www.latsis-foundation.org) and donations from individuals.

The program offered children the vaccinations included in the National Vaccination Program (NVP)
